Griz vs. Northern Colorado: Live from the Zoo

You know the deal, live photos and comments straight from the student section.

Photos can be found at flickr.com/grizzoulian. Not guaranteeing that I'll have as many as some previous games but I'll try to toss a couple up there.

Live updates can be found at twitter.com/colinokeefe. Also available in the flashy thing below. Use arrows to scroll through.

This post can also work as a live thread for the game. If you have any comments or questions, leave them. While I may not respond in the comments section, I'll get them and may respond in the Twitter feed.

Also, if you have anything you want me to ask coaches and or players after the game, leave those in the comments as well. Not guaranteed that I pose the suggested questions but I will take a look at them and strongly consider it.

Edit: Flash icon below may be a little behind so following on Twitter page is probably best.

Way to go GRIZ, for stomping all over No.Colorado.

Way to go Matt Martin for joining the 1000 point club.

Martin has a real chance to break the 3 point record, however, I doubt Tinkle will let him.

Kevin Criswell, is the current Career three point record holder for the Griz. Criswell made 218 three pointers in 3664 minutes.

Matt Martin, is currently in second place for the Career three point record. So far, Martin has made 208 three pointers in 2653 minutes.

The surprising thing about this stat:

Kevin Criswell ... 3664 minutes
Matt Martin ......2653 minutes
TOTAL difference.. 1011 minutes

1011 divided by 40 minutes (40 mins is the length of a game) equals 25.275 FULL games.

It took Criswell 25 and a quarter more COMPLETE games to be just ten 3 point field goals ahead of Martin.

One can only imagine what Martin could have done in his four years, if he would have had a good coach for his last two years and an extra 25 and a quarter games worth of minutes.

As hard as Tinkle tried to stop Martin from getting into the 1000 point club tonight, by limiting Martin to only 15 minutes, I am happy for Martin that Tinkle failed.

The game tonight was a rout, Martin is a senior. Martin has one guarenteed game left, probably a couple more in the BSC tourney.

Tinkle limits Martin to 15 minutes tonight, knowing Martin has a real chance to break the all time 3 point record. Does Tinkle say, "It's a rout guys, let's give Matt a whole lot of looks so he can break the record"?

NO, Tinkle cuts his senior down to 15 stinking minutes.

I've often wondered just how petty Tinkle could get, now I know.

You can bet, Tinkle will limit Martin's minutes in the Portland State game and BSC tourney, so as to stop Martin from beating Criswell's three point record.

How pathetic can a coach get?

TINKLE says martin is sick and lauded him for playing. I am a big martin fan also.
Nice to see cam coming around we will need him to play well if we can advance in the BSC tourney.

That was a nice win but we all have to realize that Northern Colorado is not very good and we are relying way to much on the 3 ball we went cold in the second half and it looked like Northern was gonna come back we gotta play better against Portland State...a win against them could get us a home game next weekend against the cats or idaho state how badass would that be getting another game with either of those teams...Congrats 2 Matt for scoring 1000 points i've always said that Matt is a leader out there on the court

Colin,

Just looking at your pics on Flickr, I'd have to agree with you that student support sucks! I can't believe that with hosting tournament games on the line, the student body just doesn't seem to care. Amazing!

Congrats, Matt on making the 1000pt club. ET ... 11 Assists ... way to be! Team Griz ... 21 assists on 30 goals!! Yesssss!!! You're awesome! 'Drew, 8 for 11 from the floor and 13 rebounds. You're a beast!

Colin, have they had senior night yet, or will that be during the Portland game?

The 10:48 post was mine. Don't know how I got the name fields cleared, but I guess I did. I know how you hate people not being willing to sign what they write, Colin. :)

mtgrizguy -

I am sure you have, as have I, watched or at least listened to all 120 games Martin has played as a Griz. The kid has fire in his soul when he is on the floor, sick or not.

You couldn't keep him out of a game if you wanted to. He would never volunteer to ride the pine, sick or not. Once the game starts, he forgets he is sick until the final buzzer. He sits on a bench only when ordered to.

Rundles is a fine player, and I am always glad to see him do good, but I think Rundles got Martin's minutes tonight because Tinkle made a contemptible, decision to limit Martin's chance of breaking the 3 point record.

I could be wrong, but I doubt it. I guess we will be able to tell by the number of minutes Martin gets in the Portland State and hopefully, the BSC tourney games.

Just like to point out one other milestone that happened tonight ... also belonging to Martin. Even with only 1 assist tonight, Matt moved into sole possession of 10 place on the Griz Career Assists list with 314.
