Kaimin returns with wealth of old news
The Montana Kaimin made its less than anticipated debut today and brought with it an almost overwhelming number of sports stories. The stories are -- for the most part -- topics we've heard about throughout the summer but it's interesting to hear more quotes on the issues.
Here are the sports topics covered in this morning's Kaimin:
This is a tiny step in the right direction for the Kaimin, I hope they don't head backwards in the coming days.
Here are the sports topics covered in this morning's Kaimin:
- New uniforms
- The departure of Jimmy Wilson and Qwenton Freeman
- The return of an experienced football squad
- Volleyball preview
- Mention of all 11 games being on TV
- UM winning the President's Cup
- Learfield signing on
This is a tiny step in the right direction for the Kaimin, I hope they don't head backwards in the coming days.
Oh poor Colin O'Keefe. Why are you still mad that the Kaimin didn't hire you? It's kind of sad to see this type of behavior from you.
That said, I must admit that as a Kaimin alum I did appreciate that very nice underhanded compliment you added at the end there. (You sly dog!)
However, what I found to be particularly amazing was how you used the title of this post to bash the Kaimin for having old news, only to later post that, in fact, you were wrong (see: "Craig Chambers will be making a comeback").
I would have assumed the title for a post in which you admit a mistake would be titled something like: "I actually missed something in the Kaimin today and would like to apologize for my off base jab at them, which upon further investigation (Note: 'Reading' the stories) appears to be needless pandering on my apart. Again, I apologize."
But you didn't stoop to that level. Instead you just snuck that info into your post as if it were incidental. Classy.
Now please, if you will, allow me to make my own underhanded comment about your blog:
This site is great. It's so nice to read stories written by Kaimin reporters, and then getting your two-cents on the stories instead of new reporting. I can imagine how much effort cribbing from your peers must take, and I applaud you.
One last note: Using the Kaimin's reporting instead of your own is a small step in the right direction for your blog, I hope you don't step backwards in the coming days.
The Kaimin's reporting is atrocious. I shouldn't have even posted that story on Chambers. The weekend after it was reported he'd be making a comeback he was sitting a few seats away from me in the student section. When the Kaimin publishes some relevant sports news, say, an interview from the App St AD or a lengthy explanation from O'Day on the schedule then let me know. As long as they keep knocking out soft feature stories, no one will even consider looking at the Kaimin for serious Griz news.
